The Confederate Flag - A Universal Symbol of Freedom

Chicken Bus with a Confederate Flag in El Salvador

On a recent trip to Central America, I spotted this "chicken bus" in San Salvador, El Salvador, with a Confederate Battle Flag painted on the side.  Interestingly, I've seen this revered symbol of the Confederate States of America in many surprising places, including Canada and Europe as well as numerous northern states in the U.S.A.

Many people in various cultures and different parts of the world view the Confederate flag as a symbol which represents individual responsibility, local rule, and freedom from an abusive, out-of-control, centralized government.
